What is Graphic Design?
Graphic design is literally visual communication. You communicate with your audience with visual elements rather than oral content. The goal is to convey to the audience the message you want to convey with your design. As we know, visuals, I mean images are more powerful than words.
Reasons Why Graphic Design is Not Hard
With passion and dedication, learning graphic design is not as difficult as you might think. You will be amazed at how much help you have been given in the learning process.
1. All you need is a positive attitude.
Well, obviously you need a computer too. But seriously, a positive attitude goes a long way in your learning process. You have to think, what attitude? First, you have to really like art and design. Yes, very easy. When you are passionate about design, it makes it very easy for you to get started.
In the beginning, you can probably try to create something based on the design style we like and add your own personal touch to it. But soon, you will develop your own unique style and create your own original work. So yes, to begin with, you have to appreciate the arts.
The creative process takes time, so you need to have a more important approach: be patient! I know it can be very boring when you start changing fonts or practicing pen tools, but don't worry, you will get there. Again, be patient. Very easy, right?
2. You can learn it by yourself.
You do not have to go to school to become a graphic designer and you definitely do not need a degree to work as a graphic designer. It is possible to learn graphic designing on your own. There are tons of resources available online to help you become a design pro.
With the help of technology, everything is possible nowadays. Most design schools offer online courses, I took my two graphic design courses online at summer school and you know, I learned the same as I did in the regular classroom.
If your budget is short, you can also find many free tutorials online. The design course does not teach you every single detail about design software. You always have to figure out some "how-to" for yourself. Google it, search YouTube, you got it.
3. It’s easier than drawing.
If you can draw, great, if not, no big deal. Of course, if you have good ideas, you should put them on the computer. Believe it or not, designing on a computer is much easier than making it on paper.
There are many vector tools you can use. Take the shape tool for example, by clicking and dragging, you can draw an exact circle, square or star in two seconds. How about on paper? Two minutes? And that’s hard to draw for sure, isn’t it? The last option, you use stock vectors or images.
Does it make you more confident?
